Our Background

It has been a long and winding road that brought Elena and Kevin to this very special place called Playa Zancudo, Costa Rica. We both like to travel and have lived and worked in places as diverse as New York, Vermont, Colorado, Ireland, Peru, the Middle East and even Antarctica, to mention a few. Elena has managed a number of successful small businesses and comes from a long line of great Italian cooks. Kevin's background is in construction and construction management. He went back to school however and graduated summa cum laude from Colorado Technical University in 2007 with a BSBA, proving that you actually can teach an old dog new tricks. He has also wintered in Antarctica at Palmer Station and Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station (twice) as a member of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Before buying Oceano in 2008, we lived in Colorado where we built the ultimate sustainable house, an Earthship style home. We both enjoy meeting fellow travelers and exchanging experiences and stories with them.
